Located in the city of Kenner in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (IATA: MSY, ICAO: KMSY, FAA LID: MSY) is the main domestic and international gateway into NOLA.

MSY sits at an average of 4.5 feet above sea level, making it the 2nd lowest-lying international airport in the world, trailing only Schiphol International in Amsterdam. It is sometimes referred to simply as either Louis Armstrong International and New Orleans International, and also as Moisant Field.

Louis Armstrong International (MSY) operates with two runways; 10/28, a 10,104-foot concrete/asphalt runway, and 1/19, a 7,001-foot concrete runway. Both airstrips are long enough to accommodate private jets and airliners of all sizes, although some heavy and long range jets may not be able to use Runway 1/19, based on weather conditions and other factors.

Louis Armstrong International features four concourses, A, B, C, and D, attached to two terminals, East and West. Plans to build a new $800 million terminal building on the north side of the property were recently approved, and construction is expected to be finished in late 2018.

Fly private to Lakefront Airport (IATA: NEW, ICAO: KNEW, FAA LID: NEW), located in Orleans Parish, just 5 miles northeast of NOLA’s central business district.

Lakefront was the major commercial hub in the city until 1946, when commercial flights began taking off from Moisant International (MSY), now known as Louis Armstrong International. (KNEW) Lakefront Airport is the preferred choice for many private and corporate jets.

The terminal building is known for its art deco exterior, and its interior retains much of its original lavish 1930’s decoration. Lakefront (NEW) offers 3 asphalt runways capable of accepting turbo-props on two of its runways (9/27 and 18L/36R), while business jets ranging from light to mid-size can utilize 18R/36L and its 6,879-foot runway.

(KASD, ASD) Slidell Airport – Slidell, LA

Rent a private jet and arrive/depart using Slidell Airport (ICAO: KASD, FAA LID: ASD), a city-owned public-use airport located 4 nautical miles (7 km) northwest of Slidell in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.

Slidell is located approximately 42 miles northeast (27 nm) of NOLA across I-10, and features a single 5,002-foot runway to service private flights to the area, as well as an FBO operated by ASD.

The FAA identifier for Slidell is ASD, however, it does not have an IATA code as ASD is given to Andros Town on Andros Island in the Bahamas.

(KAPS, APS) Port of South Louisiana Executive Regional Airport – Reserve, LA

Business jets can arrive just west of the city by hiring a private flight to the Port of South Louisiana Executive Regional Airport (IATA: APS, ICAO: KAPS, FAA LID: APS).

South Louisiana Executive is located 35 miles west and is around an hour’s drive from the city via I-10 E. Facilities include a 5,151 foot runway to handle executive flights, and an FBO operated by South Louisiana Executive.
