The TBM 850 was the production name for the 700N model, with 338 built during its production run until being replaced by the TBM 900.

Interior

The TBM 850’s cabin measures nearly 15 feet long, 4 feet high, and nearly 4 feet wide, with four seats and a two-piece rear bench seat in standard configuration. Each individual seat has folding executive tables, power outlets, A/C controls and CD or XM satellite music or radio.

There is ample amount of baggage space available, with 30 cubic feet internally and additional space in external storage, totaling up to nearly 550 lbs (249 kg).

Performance

The TBM 850 is equipped with an upgraded Pratt & Whitney PT6A-66D engine. Although the engine provides 850 shp (634 kW), the TBM 850 is limited to using only 700 shp (522 kW) during takeoffs and landings. Once the aircraft reaches cruising altitudes, the additional power can be utilized to increase cruising speeds to 320 knots, 20 knots higher than previous TBM 700 models.

The updated flight deck features 2x 10.4″ TFT LCD displays and a G1000 color 15″ multi-function display, with TAS, TCAS, XM weather link, and a host of systems to increase ease of operation. The 850’s all-glass cockpit was offered as an upgrade and certified by the EASA and FAA for use with Garmin’s synthetic vision.
