Aircraft > Heavy Jet

Announced in late 2015, the aptly named Hemisphere is set to become the newest and largest aircraft in the Cessna Citation family. This will also be the first large jet produced by Cessna, putting them in direct competition with Gulfstreams, Dassault Falcons, and Bombardier Challengers.

The announcement doesn’t come as a surprise, given the way Cessna has upscaled their business jets while naming them in accordance to their range. The Latitude, a 2,850 nm midsize jet, was first introduced in 2014, followed by the Citation Longitude, a 3,500 nm super-midsize jet that debuted in 2017. The Hemisphere will offer an additional 1,000+ nm of flight range, with the first flight expected later in 2019, although the project is currently delayed.

The name is the perfect way to describe this long-range jet’s capabilities, offering an impressive range of 4,500 nm that connects passengers to both hemispheres from anywhere in the world. Cessna plans to incorporate a clean-sheet design, something that has not been seen within the category in nearly 20 years.
