The Saab 340 offers a range of just under 1,000 nautical miles, and can reach speeds up to 312 mph. For passenger charter flights, the cabin measures 34 feet long  x 7 feet wide x just under 6 feet tall, with a total cabin volume of 1,408 cubic feet and 331 cubic feet of baggage space available.

There are two primary variants that were produced: the original Saab 340A came in passenger, cargo, and VIP configurations, while the 340AF was a modified cargo version. Production of the 340A models finished with 159 models manufactured. It’s replacement was the Saab 340B, featuring upgraded General Electric engines, wider horizontal stabilizers, increased cargo volume, and later models were equipped with active noise control systems. There were 200 total models of the 340B series built before production ended in 1999.
