2017 U.S. Open

Private Jet to the PGA U.S. Open Championship

Destinations > United States > Wisconsin > Milwaukee

Looking for the perfect Father’s Day gift? How about a private flight with Dad to watch the 2017 U.S. Open Golf Championship at Erin Hills in Hartford, Wisconsin?

The USGA schedules the final round for Father’s Day on the third Sunday of June, and Air Charter Advisors is tailor-made to land you on the fairway within a chip shot of the course!

True to its name, the tournament is open to any professional or amateur golfer with an up-to-date men’s USGA Handicap Index of 1.4 or less, and several satellite tournaments are held as qualifiers to narrow the field to 156 players. The tournament’s courses are considered to be some of the most challenging courses in the sport – margins of victory are often slim, as are margins for error, and many tournaments have been won with a score over-par.

This year will be the 117th edition of the U.S. Open, and it’s scheduled for June 15–18, 2017 at Erin Hills, around 40  miles northwest of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This year’s tournament will award a purse of $12 million, and for the first time, the winner’s share will exceed $2 million.

Although this will be the 5th major championship hosted by Wisconsin (1933 PGA Championship at Blue Mound; 2004, 2010, and 2015 at Whistling Straits), this will be the state’s first time hosting a US Open Tournament — the state was a regular stop on the tour for years with the Greater Milwaukee (1968–2009), and before that, the Milwaukee Invitational (1955–1961).

Airports for Private Flights to the 2017 US Open

Clients flying private can choose between a variety of airports located within 50 miles of Erin Hills, the site of this year’s tournament. Mitchell Field Airport (MKE) is a popular choice for private jets heading to the area, however, it’s located 43 miles southeast of the course. Check out the two airports below that offer closer arrivals/departures.

(KUES, UES) Waukesha County International Airport – Pewaukee, Wisconsin

Home to 3 private FBO’s, Waukesha County (UES) can accommodate almost any mid-size/super mid-size, along with select large jets.
Also known as Crites Field and Greater Milwaukee Airport, it’s located just 24 miles south of the tournament

Longest Runway: 5,849 feet
FBO Service: Atlantic Aviation | Stein’s Aircraft Services | Waukesha County Airport

(KHXF, HXF) Hartford Municipal Airport – Hartford, Wisconsin

Hartford Municipal (HXR) is the ideal arrival option, located just 8 miles north of Erin Hills.
However, it’s 3,000 foot runway limits operations to smaller piston and turboprop aircraft.
